How is protein powder made?

Whey starts as the liquid left over when milk gets separated for cheese. That liquid goes through microfiltration and ultrafiltration to strip out fat, lactose, and carbs until you've got 90%+ pure protein. There are no worms involved despite what you saw on TikTok. Does protein powder expire?
